The artist chosen to interpret “La Determinazione” for the 17th edition of Vendemmia d’Artista is Pascale Marthine Tayou.

Pascale Marthine Tayou is a globally acclaimed artist from Cameroon whose work is distinguished by its versatility, transcending any single medium or thematic constraint. While his subjects vary, they remain deeply rooted in his personal experience. 

His creations serve as cultural mediators, fostering a nuanced dialogue between humanity and nature while simultaneously reflecting social, cultural, and political constructs. His practice is deliberately dynamic, eclectic, and resistant to rigid frameworks. Closely tied to the notions of travel and encounter, his work engages with otherness in a way that feels instinctive and spontaneous. 

In capturing the essence of Ornellaia’s 2022 vintage “La Determinazione”, the artist embraced a creative approach deeply rooted in the materiality of colour and the exuberance of life.

For the 750ml labels, the design features concentric circles composed of multi-coloured markings, symbolizing the energy and strength that emerge when individual elements unite into a cohesive whole.

For the double magnums (3L), the artist developed a visual sequence derived from a photograph, depicting the gradual emergence of a resilient plant pushing through cracks in the arid desert terrain.

Finally, the Imperial (6L) and Salmanazar (9L) bottles are encased in unique patchwork covers made from vibrant, repurposed fabrics—each with a different design—embodying the joy and triumph of overcoming adversity.
