VENDEMMIA
D’ARTISTA
Ornellaia supports culture, beauty and enjoyment of art through limited editions of the estate’s finest wine.
THE VENDEMMIA D’ARTISTA PROJECT CELEBRATES THE UNIQUE CHARACTER OF EVERY VINTAGE OF ORNELLAIA
Every year since the release of Ornellaia 2006 a contemporary artist has designed a site-specific work of art for the estate and a set of limited-edition labels, inspired by a word chosen by the Estate Director to describe the character of the new vintage.
The Vendemmia d’Artista project involves the limited-edition production of 111 large-format bottles (100 Double Magnums, 10 Imperials and 1 Salmanazar), which are numbered and signed personally by the artist. Since 2012, every case of Ornellaia has included one bottle featuring a label created by the artist.
Collectors around the world compete for these bottles, most of which are sold during an annual charity auction to support the world of art.
Since 2009, Ornellaia has donated all the proceeds from its Vendemmia d’Artista charity auctions, generously overseen by Sotheby’s, in favour of art foundations and museums all over the world. From 2019 to 2024, a longstanding rapport linked Ornellaia and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. Profits made from the Vendemmia d’Artista project were donated to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation’s Mind’s Eye program, which helps blind or low-vision people experiment art by using the senses. Over the years donations from the Ornellaia Vendemmia d’Artista project allowed the Mind’s Eye program to expand through digitalization, reaching a vast audience around the world. The Vendemmia d’Artista project will continue to support the art world.
